Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Zürich
Arrive in Zürich and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to discover the world-famous shopping mile Bahnhofstrasse or stroll along the banks of Lake Zürich.

Day 2: Zürich | Interlaken
Travel to Lucerne via the Luzern–Interlaken Express, an unforgettable jour­ney right into the heart of Switzerland. This two-hour ride will take you along the shores of crystal-clear lakes, past romantic waterfalls and over the magnificent Brünig mountain pass. Then continue to Interlaken. (B)

Day 3: Interlaken | Montreux
Continue your rail journey from Interlaken to the Kleine Scheidegg, a mountain pass at the foot of the famous Eiger, a 13,000-foot high mountain. Change trains at Jungfraujoch Station, the highest railway station in Europe at over 11,000 feet, with some breathtaking views of the Aletsch Glacier, the longest in the Alps and a UNESCO World Heritage site. In the early evening, your journey on the Golden Pass line to Montreux continues. Travel along the lake shores and through the scenic villages with spectacular views. (B)

Day 4: Montreux | Zermatt
Continue your rail journey from Montreux to Zermatt, changing trains in Visp. Zermatt, which lies at the foot of the Matterhorn, is a car-free zone preserving its original character. The rest of the day will be at leisure to enjoy all that Zermatt has to offer. Enjoy your leisure time to go hiking and some souvenir shopping. (B)

Day 5: Zermatt | St. Moritz
In the morning, take the world-famous Glacier Express for a thrilling ride in the panorama carriage to St. Moritz. Here you will see some of the most dramatic scenery Switzerland has to offer. Along the deep Rhone valley, the Glacier Express travels through an incredibly fascinating part of the Alps. The train will take you over the 6,670-foot high Oberalp Pass and through the impressive Rhine gorge. (B)

Day 6: St. Moritz | Lugano
Board the narrow-gauge Bernina Express at St. Moritz station and enjoy one of the most impressive scenic rail jour­neys Switzerland offers. Travel over circular viaducts and pass through winding tunnels before reaching Tirano in Italy, which is the end of the Bernina Express rail line. Here you will change to the Bernina Express Bus which will take you onwards to Ticino and onto Lugano, southern Switzerland’s largest town. (B)

Day 7: Lugano | Lucerne
Board the famous Wilhelm Tell Express which will take you from the Mediterranean south to the traditional heart of Switzerland. This journey follows the spectacular Gotthard route, an unforgettable trip and very impressive countryside. You will travel from Lugano to Flüelen via Bellinzona, famous for its three castles that are a UNESCO World Heritage site. Your train journey winds its way from 1500 to 3600 feet in altitude, disappearing into the 10 mile Gotthard Tun­nel. At Flüelen, board the historic Wilhelm Tell paddle steamer for the cruise across Lake Lucerne. (B)

Day 8: Lucerne | Departure from Zurich
After breakfast, depart Lucerne by rail to Zurich airport for your return flight (B)
