Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Delhi
Upon arrival, meet and greet then private transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Delhi
Tour of Old and New Delhi and see remarkable sites in both the traditional and new sides of India’s capital, including three UNESCO World Heritage sites: Red Fort, Qutub Minar and Humayun’s Tomb. Among the other places you will visit are: Raj Ghat, a memorial to Mahatma Gandhi; Jama Masjid, one of India’s largest mosques;and the inspiring India Gate War Memorial. (B)

Day 3: Delhi | Udaipur
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Udaipur. After arrival, enjoy a city tour, including: the City Palace, built on the banks of Pichola Lake and the largest palace in Rajasthan; the medieval Jagdish Temple, with its meticulously detailed carvings and representing a fine example of the Nagara style of temple architecture. Day 4: Udaipur | Jodhpur
After breakfast, depart by private car to Jodhpur. After arrival at your hotel, the rest of the day is yours at leisure. (B)

Day 5: Jodhpur
Morning city tour of Jodhpur, starting with Rajasthan’s most impressive structure, the 15th-century Mehrangarh Fort that rises more than 400 feet above the city. Explore its magnificent palaces with meticulously carved panels and latticed windows. Next, on to Jaswant Thada and the Museum housed in the majestic Umaid Bhawan Palace. (B)

Day 6: Jodhpur | Jaipur
Early morning departure by train to Jaipur. Upon arrival, meeting, assistance and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon visit the City Palace and the UNESCO World Heritage site Jantar Mantar or Astronomical Observatory, with the world’s largest stone sundial. In the evening, enjoy a cooking demonstration of regional dishes followed by dinner. (B,D)

Day 7: Jaipur | Agra
Morning visit to Hawa Mahal, the Palace of the Winds, known for its unique, honeycomb-shaped facade. Continue to another UNESCO World Heritage site, Amber Fort, a red sandstone and marble structure which is a beautiful fusion of Mughal and Hindu-style architecture. Ascend to the palace on the back of a gaily caparisoned elephant; tour the exquisite interior, decorated with intricate ivory, colorful paintings and mirror chips. On to Tiger Fort and enjoy a rickshaw ride in the busy bazaar. Continue to Agra with a stop at Fatehpur Sikri, an exquisite city of red sandstone built by Akbar the Great as his capital in 1569. (B)

Day 8: Agra
Morning visit to the legendary Taj Mahal, one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, recognized as the jewel of Muslim art in India and a universally admired masterpiece. Later, visit the Agra Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site. This 450-year-old walled city was main residence of the emperors of the Mughal Dynasty. In the evening, enjoy high tea at Taj Khema with its spectacular views of the Taj Mahal. (B)

Day 9: Agra | Khajuraho
Morning transfer to board the Shatabdi Express train to Jhansi. Then continue by car to Khajuraho, with a stop to visit the medieval city of Orchha. Late afternoon arrival in Khajuraho. In the evening, enjoy a Light and Sound Show at the Western group of temples. (B)

Day 10: Khajuraho
Tour the Khajuraho Group of Monuments, a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for their erotic carvings. You’ll see the eastern and Western temples, including the Kandariya Mahadeva Temple, the site’s largest and most ornate Hindu temple. The afternoon is at leisure. (B)

Day 11: Khajuraho | Varanasi
After breakfast, fly to Varanasi, the holiest of the seven sacred cities in Hinduism and Jainism. In the afternoon, visit to Sarnath, the buried Buddhist city where Lord Buddha preached his first sermon after attaining Nirvana. Visit the Buddhist temple, museum, and Deer Park. In the evening, attend an Aarti ceremony. (B)

Day 12: Varanasi | Delhi
Rise before dawn for a boat ride on the River Ganges where you can see devout Hindus performing their rituals on the steps (ghats) of the sacred river. Return to your hotel for breakfast, followed by a city tour of Varanasi. Afternoon flight to Delhi, where you will connect with your return flight home or an optional tour extension. (B)
