Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in San Jose | Arenal
Upon arrival, transfer to Arenal, a region with beautiful and varied scenery. The lowlands host gushing rivers, hot springs, lagoons and plentiful wildlife. Visit Paradise Hot Springs and enjoy the thermal water there, followed by a Kosher dinner. (D)

Day 2: Arenal
Start the day with a 2-mile hiking trip through the tropical humid forest. Enjoy the spectacular scenery of birds, reptiles, mammals and insects. Your next stop is La Fortuna waterfall with the huge swimming hole and the large rocks nearby. After swimming, tour a tropical plantation and learn how the plants been used for cooking, industrial use and for medical purposes. Continue to the “trapiche” where you will see first-hand how to extract sugar from the sugar cane, drink fresh sugar cane juice, and learn about the process of making the “guaro”, the famous Costa Rican alcohol. Day 3: Arenal
Learn about the production process of chocolate, from the harvesting of the fruit of the cacao tree. Enjoy the journey through the history, culture, traditions of chocolate. After that, tour to Arenal Volcano, hiking through the forest to get to the place where the lava used to flow, plants, wildlife and Arenal Lake. See the very place where the glowing rocks used to tumble down of the mountain. (B,D)

Day 4: Arenal | Manuel Antonio
Visit the San Lorenzo Adventure Center in the center of a cloud forest and enjoy a canyoning tour. Rappel down five descends from a 350-foot high waterfall offering surprises at every step. In the end, try the super fun Tarzan swing and horseback ride back through the beautiful cloud forest. Later on your combo canopy tour, you will see the forest from the top of the trees, as you zipline through more than 500 acres of forest. Transfer to Manuel Antonio, one of the most luxuriant locations in Costa Rica, with spectacular white-grey sandy beaches fringed by thickly forested green hills. (B,D)

Day 5: Manuel Antonio
Your catamaran island adventure begins at Quepos Harbor, cruising through the aquamarine waters toward the spectacular and scenic coastline of Manuel Antonio Park. Soon you will be in open water and on the lookout for spotted dolphins, migrating humpback whales, sea turtles and manta rays. You will be captivated by the sight of dolphins frolicking at the boat’s wake or the inimitable sound of a whale’s song. These are the nesting grounds and home for numerous species of marine birds, including pelicans, boobies and ibises. After touring the coastline, you will anchor in a protected cove within the pristine Biesanz Bay for snorkeling. (B,L,D)

Day 6: Manuel Antonio National Park
Visit Manuel Antonio National Park which preserves beautiful beaches, the unique formation of the Punta Cathedral, mangroves, a set of offshore islands and a humid tropical forest. The park has four beaches, each with its special characteristics. A guide will take you through the park to see numerous species of butterflies, monkeys, raccoons, coatis, agoutis, two-toed sloths, snakes, orchids, etc. (B,D)

Day 7: Manuel Antonio | Poas Volcano | San Jose
Visit the city of Alajuela passing by the Agriculture Monument, the Monument of Juan Santamaria and the famous Mango Park. Continue to the Poás Volcano where you will not only admire the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles, but also learn about the different ecosystems in this beautiful national park. Following the visit to the volcano, continue to La Paz Waterfall Gardens. Walk on a trail leading to a spectacular waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. Inside the park, you will also visit the hummingbird gallery, the serpentarium, the bird house, the butterfly garden and the frog’s exhibit. (B,D)

Day 8: Departure from San Jose
Transfer to the airport for your return flight home. (B)
