Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Managua
Upon arrival in Managua, meeting and transfer to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore independently.

Day 2: Managua
You will visit old Managua with the Cathedral ruins, the Culture Palace and Ruben Dario National Theater. You will also stop by a local market that offers a wide selection of local crafts. Continue to Leon, the former capital city of Nicaragua, founded by Francisco Hernandez de Cordoba in 1524. (B,L)

Day 3: Managua
Drive from Managua to Masaya Volcano National Park and visit one of the few volcanoes in the world where you can peer directly over the edge of the steamy crater. This is one of the most visited national parks in all Central America. Afterwards, continue to the beautiful city of Granada, setting for some of the famed pirates who pillaged the Caribbean between the 17th and 19th centuries. Next, on to Isletas where you can enjoy a relaxing journey through the many calm canals that separate the 365 islets of Lake Nicaragua. (B,L)

Day 4: Managua | San Salvador
Transfer to the airport for your flight to San Salvador, El Salvador. Visit the colonial town of Suchitoto and walk along the beautiful cobblestone streets with its charming houses. Here, the indigo trade thrived back in the Mayan and colonial times. Attend an indigo workshop where you can learn all about the process of this natural colorant that is extracted from the Xiquilite plant. Continue to “El Boquerón”, the crater of the San Salvador Volcano (Quezaltepeque Volcano). You can reach the edge of the crater and admire its beauty. (B,L)

Day 5: San Salvador
Morning departure to Volcanoes National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve that includes three volcanoes as well as a volcanic lake. After enjoying the beauty of the park, continue to the Flower Route, formed by four charming towns within the coffee plantations. Stop for coffee then see the crafts of the region. (B,L)

Day 6: San Salvador | Guatemala City | Antigua
Morning drive to Guatemala City. Continue to the World Heritage site of Antigua and tour this city established by the Spaniards in 1543 then completely destroyed by an earthquake. The balance of the day is yours at leisure. (B,L)

Day 7: Antigua
Full day at leisure to discover the many beautiful sights this city has to offer. (B,L)

Day 8: Antigua | Departure from Guatemala City
Transfer to the airport in Guatemala City for your return flight. (B)
