Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Quito
Welcome to Quito! Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to unwind, relax and explore this historic and well-preserved city.

Day 2: Quito | Otavalo
Tour the Otavalo Market, one of South America’s most famous Indian fairs. In the afternoon drive to the woodcarving center of San Antonio de Ibarra and to the village of Cotacachi, famous for its leather handicrafts. Lunch is included. (B,L)

Day 3: Quito
City tour of Quito, including the Legislative Palace, San Agustín Monastery and Independence Plaza. Visit San Francisco Cathedral which is one of the first great religious buildings in the New World and home to the works of the famous Indian artist Caspicara. (B)

Day 4: Quito | Napo Wildlife Center
Transfer to the airport for your flight over the eastern Andes to the jungle town of Coca. Board a motorized canoe downstream the Napo River, the major tributary of the Amazon Rainforest, and admire the incredible views of the Amazon jungle that opens before your eyes on your two-hour ride. After a short break at the Napo Wildlife Center dock, continue on a majestic and peaceful dugout canoe ride to your lodge at the Añangu Lake. (B,L,D)

Day 5: Napo Wildlife Center
Early morning adventure at the Napo Wildlife Center to witness one of the most incredible nature spectacles you will ever see, parrot clay licks. It is a real spectacle of colors, with about 11 species of birds such as parrots, macaws and parakeets. Later on, we will hike along the forest trail to visit the Kichwa Añangu community to share time with the men, women and children of the community and learning about their every-day-life activities, routines and their ancestral customs and traditions. Then you will go hiking for 30 minutes through a terra firme forest to a second parrot clay lick. (B,L,D)

Day 6: Napo Wildlife Center
Start the day at the Canopy Observation Tower, a 36-meter high wooden platform built just next to a huge and ancient Kapok tree, from which you will witness the most amazing views of the jungle. In the afternoon, you will go deep into the forest interior to discover the beautiful and mysterious wildlife that hides there! Explore the black water Añangu Lake and streams that are home to different species of fish and mammals, including the endangered giant otter. (B,L,D)

Day 7: Napo Wildlife Center | Guayaquil | Salinas
Transfer to the airport for your flight to Guayaquil. Upon arrival, transfer to Salinas for your three-night stay at the all-inclusive Barcelo Colon Miramar Beach Resort. (B,L,D)

Free time at Barcelo Colon Miramar Beach Resort. (B,L,D)

Day 9: Salinas
Free time at Barcelo Colon Miramar Beach Resort. (B,L,D)

Day 10: Salinas | Departure from Guayaquil
