Day 1: Arrival in La Paz
Welcome to La Paz! Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel. Time at leisure to rest and adjust to the high altitude (12,500 feet above sea level).
Day 2: La Paz | Tiwanaku | Huatajata (Lake Titicaca)
Depart La Paz and transfer to Tiwanaku. Visit the magnificent Tiwanaku ruins, including the Sun Gate, Temple of Kalasasaya and the Pyramid of Akapana. Experience the Andean Roots Eco Village. Spend some time at the Kallawaya Natural Spa where ancient, traditional methods are used to treat stress, well-being, and cosmetology enhancements. At night visit the “Mystic World of the Kallawayas”, natural healers of Bolivia authorized by law to practice natural medicine. Upon arrival at your hotel, enjoy a welcome drink and a candlelight dinner. (B,D)
Day 3: Huatajata | La Paz
Transfer to the untouched Bay of Cocotoni, followed by a hydrofoil cruise to the town of Copacabana to visit the shrine and local market. Depart Copacabana and cruise to Sun Island, visit the Inca Staircase and Sacred Fountain believed to be the “Fountain of Youth”. Enjoy lunch at an archeological restaurant and visit the picturesque handicraft market. Depart Sun Island via hydrofoil crossing the lake to Moon Island and visit the Sun Virgin’s Temple. (B,L)
Day 4: La Paz | Sucre
Flight to Sucre, former capital of Bolivia and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city tour includes the Textile and Ethnographic Museum Asur, San Felipe Nery Church, and the Recoleta. The rest of the day is at leisure. (B)
Day 5: Sucre | Potosi | Uyuni
Early morning departure for a full-day tour of Potosi, declared by UNESCO as the “Historical and Cultural Legacy of Mankind.” During colonial times, this city was the wealthiest in the world due to its rich silver mountain. The visit includes historic sites, the Royal Mint and an optional visit to the silver mine. Drive to Uyuni, dinner upon arrival. (B,L,D)
Day 6: Uyuni | La Paz
Visit the largest salt desert in the world surrounded by an impressive panorama. Visit the Salt Museum, then enjoy a delicious lunch at Fish Island. This landscape is popular with photographers. (B,L)
Day 7: La Paz
Depart for a morning city tour of La Paz including colonial and modern areas, the Indian Market and the Witch Doctor’s Market. Then visit Moon Valley, a clay formation resembling the face of the Moon. The afternoon is at leisure. (B)
Day 8: Departure from La Paz
Transfer to the airport for your return flight. (B)
