Experience west Iceland’s rich history and mystical landscape.During this unforgettable guided tour you will be introduced to the best-known natural treasures that are tucked along the rugged coastline of Snaefellsnes Peninsula, famous for its mystical glacier and ties to the ancient Sagas.Each day brings unique encounters with local traditions, from tasting fermented shark, to meeting our Viking horses, and enjoying homemade skyr (a type of thick) yogurt at a dairy farm. We sample freshly caught seafood out at sea, walk among geological wonders of the Golden Circle and take in the magnificence of the world-renowned Blue Lagoon. At day’s end, relax in the Icelandic countryside for optimal viewing of some Northern Lights.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Reykjavik
Upon arrival in Reykjavik transfer to you hotel.

Day 2: Reykjavik | Reykholt | Borgarnes
Today, enjoy a sightseeing tour of Reykjavik’s highlights including; the Harpa Concert Hall, Parliament, Austurvollur Square, and Hallgrimskirkja church, as well as the trendy downtown harbor district. Afterwards travel to Akranes to visit the local museum center and experience some of the unique local folklore at the Fossatun Troll Gardens. Stop at Deildartunguhver hot spring. Visit Reykholt to see the home of renowned Icelandic Saga writer Snorri Sturluson. End the day with a visit to the waterfalls at Hraunfoss and Barnafoss. In the evening experience a Northern Lights Hunt. (B,D)

Day 3: Stykkisholmur | Snaefellsnes | Borgarnes
Today embark on a cruise in Breidafjordur Bay, encounter thousands of tiny islands and taste “Viking Sushi.” As we travel down the coast of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula we will encounter Grundarfjordur village and landmark Kirkjufell Mountain. We will see the village of Arnarstapi with its unique rock formations, finally we stop at the Snaefellsjokull glacier-volcano. In the evening, experience a Northern Lights Hunt. (B)

Day 4: Thingvellir | Gullfoss | Geysir
Today is dedicated is experiencing Iceland’s Golden Circle. Enjoy Gollfoss waterfall, Geysir Hot Spring and Thingvellir National Park. Afterwards visit a dairy farm specializing in homemade skyr and end the day in Hveragerdi a highly geothermal area known for its greenhouses. (B)

Day 5: Reykjanes | Blue Lagoon | Reykjavik
Today we will visit Standarkirkja church thought to have special powers for increasing luck and success. We will drive to Lake Kleifarvatn set in stark moon like surroundings near Krysuvik bubbling springs. In the afternoon enjoy the world famous Blue Lagoon. (B)

Day 6: Depart Reykjavik
Transfer to the airport for your departure flight. (B)
