Day 1: Arrival in Warsaw
Upon arrival, meet and transfer to hotel. Drive along the beautifully renovated Royal Route with its historical monuments and residences. Stop at Castle Square for a short walk through Old Town. Afterwards, welcome dinner at a local restaurant. Your meal will include traditional Polish dishes and famous Polish vodka, “Zubrowka”. (D)
Day 2: Warsaw
Half-day sightseeing tour including the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site, rebuilt after World War II, with the impressive Royal Castle. After lunch, drive to the site of the former Warsaw Ghetto. Visit a famous Warsaw chocolate factory. In the evening, a piano recital of famous compositions of Frederic Chopin. (B,L)
Day 3: Warsaw | Czestochowa | Zakopane
Depart for Zakopane in the Tatra Mountains. En route, visit the Yasna Gora Monastery and its Black Madonna Shrine, which is popular with religious pilgrims. Lunch at a local restaurant in Czestochowa. Evening in Zakopane, the most popular resort in Poland. (B,L)
Day 4: Zakopane | Krakow
After breakfast, a sightseeing tour of Zakopane, including the Jaszczurowka Chapel, a 100-year-old wooden jewel. Later, drive to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Fatima at Krzeptowki. Then head to Pieniny National Park with its picturesque limestone mountains, for a rafting trip on the Dunajec River. (B,D)
Day 5: Krakow | Auschwitz | Krakow
Morning tour of Krakow’s historic city center, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Included are the main square, the largest medieval town squares in Europe, 13th-century Wawel Castle, one of the largest in Poland and the 260-foot tall Mt. Mary’s Church. After lunch visit Auschwitz, the infamous concentration camp from World War II which is also a UNESCO World Heritage site. (B,L)
Day 6: Krakow
The morning is yours to continue to explore this historic city. Afternoon excursion to Wieliczka Royal Salt Mine, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The mine not only has underground tunnels and chambers but also dozens of statues and four chapels carved out of the rock salt by the miners. Dinner with a folkloric show will be served at a local restaurant. (B,D)
Day 7: Depart Krakow
Transfer to the airport for your return flight. (B)
