Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Ahmedabad
Upon arrival, meet and greet then private transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Ahmedabad
Full-day tour includes Sabarmati Ashram, a former home to Mahatma Gandhi, which is now a center to both preserve his history and to educate people in his great philosophies, values and teachings.Continue to the Calico Museum, one of the most celebrated textile museums in the world for its distinguished and comprehensive collection of Indian textiles. In the afternoon, visit the intricate the city’s most famous Jain temple. Later, tour the massive Akshardham Temple, with its cultural and spiritual exhibitions, water show, beautiful gardens and sacred relics. (B)

Day 3: Ahmedabad
Morning tour to the town of Modhera to see the 11th-century Sun Temple complex, the Solanki dynasty’s highest architectural achievement and now a protected Monument of National Importance. Continue to Patan, Gujarat’s old capital; explore the ruins of this former prosperous fortified town, including Rani-ki-Vav (the Queen’s Stepwell), a UNESCO World Heritage site. (B)

Day 4: Ahmedabad | Bhavnagar
Morning drive to Gujarat’s cultural capital, Bhavnagar. Afternoon tour of the city, including the Barton Library and Gandhi Smriti, with its vast collection of memorabilia about the Indian Independence struggle. End the day with a visit to one of Gujarat’s oldest temples, built on a hill with its sweeping city views. (B)

Day 5: Bhavnagar | Gondal
Early morning departure for Gondal, en route, visit Palitana the Jain community’s most sacred pilgrimage site (tirtha). It has over 900 temples, the main one being on the top of a hill, and is the first of two vegetarian cities in the world. (B)

Note: Visiting the main temple entails a climb of over 3,800 odd stairs, not recommended for travelers with difficulty in walking/climbing.

Day 6: Gondal
Visit this morning is highlighted by Darbargadh Palace, a former home to the royal family. This historical complex reflects the fusion of different architectural styles and is full of ornate pillars, decorated mirrors, sculptures and monuments. and the Royal Garages with a world-famous collection of vintage and classic cars belonging to the period between 1910 and 1955. Later visit a farm that has won many prestigious awards for its remarkable specimens of ethnic breeds of livestock. (B)

Day 7: Gondal | Sasan Gir
Morning drive to Sasan Gir, a lion sanctuary, the only place in the world to spot the Asiatic Lion in its natural habitat. En route visit Jetpur, a textile town and one of the largest centers for screen-printing, block printing and yarn dyeing workshops. Upon arrival in Sasan Gir, check into your comfortable lodge. Day 8: Sasan Gir
Visit Gir National Park, one of India’s best-preserved nature sanctuaries, set amid dry, deciduous jungle, teak forests and grasslands. Wildlife includes majestic lions and felines (leopards and panthers) as well as deer and antelopes, wild boars, hyenas and jackals and over 300 species of birds. (B,L,D)

Day 9: Sasan Gir | Rajkot
Morning drive to Rajkot, a peaceful riverside town, offers museums, temples and churches and well-landscaped gardens. Afternoon visit to the Jubilee Gardens’ Watson Museum and Library showcasing 13th-century carvings, temple statues, natural history and tribal exhibits. (B)

Day 10: Depart Rajkot
Transfer to airport for your return flight. (B)
