Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Santiago
Morning arrival in Santiago, then transfer to your hotel. Afternoon tour of the city includes a visit to the civic center, O’higgins Park and Santa Lucia hill. Continue to San Cristóbal Hill for a panoramic view of the entire city and drive via the lovely residential districts of Las Condes and Vitacura.

Day 2: Santiago & The Wine Country
A scenic drive along the Maipo canyon takes you to the renowned Concha y Toro Vineyard; visit the wine cellars and hear detailed descriptions on the wine making and aging process. After wine tasting and lunch, return to Santiago. Evening: Dinner at a local restaurant and Folkloric show. (B,L,D)

Day 3: Santiago | Punta Arenas | Puerto Natales
Morning flight from Santiago to Punta Arenas. Your adventure begins upon arrival. Drive north, through the endless Patagonian steppes, crossing trout-filled rivers, beech tree forests, sheep ranches and sawmills. Arrive at the portside city of Puerto Natales for overnight. (B)

Day 4: Puerto Natales (Serrano & Balmaceda Glaciers)
Drive to nearby Port Bories; board a schooner that cruises to the spectacular Serrano and Balmaceda Glaciers. Sail around the stunning Last hope Fjord in full view of the cascades and Sea Lion Island before returning to Puerto Natales for overnight. (B,L)

Day 5: Puerto Natales (Torres del Paine National Park)
Today, a wondrous excursion to Torres del Paine National Park, considered by many to be the finest national park in all of the Americas. This is a region of startling contrasts and extraordinary beauty – dramatic landscapes of shimmering lakes, towering volcanic mountains, glaciers and rolling hills with bountiful flora and fauna. After a box lunch, return to Puerto Natales; visit Milodon’s cave, where a gigantic prehistoric fossil was discovered. (B,L)

Day 6: Puerto Natales | El Calafate
Depart Puerto Natales and drive towards the Argentine border; after customs formalities, continue towards Lago Argentino, one of the most scenic areas in Argentina. Here, the great Andes Mountain range creeps gradually closer as it approaches the Magellan straits. Patagonia becomes a spectacle of towering mountains, foaming rivers, growing glaciers and gentle creeks. Overnight in El Calafate. (B)

Day 7: El Calafate
Drive to Glacier National Park; see the amazing Perito Moreno Glacier on the southern arm of Lago Argentino towering 240 feet above the lake level – it’s the world’s largest active glacier. Enjoy a cruise with spectacular views of this Ice Age relic declared by UNESCO to be a universal Patrimony of humanity. Return to El Calafate. (B)

Day 8: El Calafate | Buenos Aires or Bariloche Extension
Morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Buenos Aires; meeting, assistance and transfer to your hotel. The remainder of the day at leisure. (B)

Day 9: Buenos Aires
Built in the 19th century, this city’s architecture and sophistication rival that of Paris. Tour the city center, including the Plaza de Mayo and Casa Rosada. Then enjoy a delicious cup of coffee and a typical pastry at a historic café. End with a visit to the Italian Boca District. (B)

Day 10: Buenos Aires
Day at leisure to enjoy this fascinating city on your own, or choose an optional tour to H. Stern jewelry store, featuring exquisite designs and a wide variety of jewelry pieces in rhodochrosite, also known as Inca Rose, Argentina’s national stone. (B)

Day 11: Depart Buenos Aires
Day at leisure. Stroll around this cosmopolitan city with its chic sidewalk cafés or enjoy some last-minute shopping before evening transfer to the airport for return flight. (B)
